Having had a few sunny days & sightings of snowdrops, daffodils & even blossom, we are definitely willing on Spring!! Below is a Spring inspired colour palette that we have put together... Soft blush combined with a fun uplifting teal, adding a splash of navy & earthy browns for depth. Exposed, loose brush strokes & soft washed paint effects create a relaxed yet playful atmosphere & pull all the colours together beautifully. A perfect Spring palette. Exposed plaster is also a beautiful & unusual way to introduce texture & a raw, blush colour into your home (particularly suiting older homes). We love the half finished plastered wall example below.

Well Autumn officially 'arrives' on the 23rd of September... only a matter of days away, but it's arrival is already evident as the leaves have started to turn brown & are beginning to fall, the days are gradually getting shorter (boo hoo) & the air feels crisp & much cooler! Initially we always get that slight sinking feeling that Summer is over but this soon turns into excitement for all things cosy & Autumnal... brisk walks, log fires, pub meals (food, lots of food), X-factor (maybe not) but cosy nights in & takeaways in front of the T.V - Yes!! We have lots of exciting new products to reveal this Season too... Watch this space!!

We are welcoming Autumn with one of our colour inspiration moodboards. It seems blue is still a no.1 colour for us this Season. We love it mixed with earthy browns, cool greys & warm coppers for the perfect Autumn colour palette. Texture & simplicity are also key...

Today's colour inspiration.... Midsummer Purple - featuring our faux purple hydrangea stems! We are actually slightly passed mid summer now & dare i say slowly edging our way towards Autumn so the colour purple feels really apt, a fun uplifting summer colour but also a warm colour to take us through to Autumn. Whilst we love this colour we like to keep things subtle applying it as an accent colour around the home - adding odd splashes such as a cushion, vase of flowers or piece of artwork.

Mix up your purple tones for a varied, sophisticated look... Soft taupes & mid greys calm & compliment the colour.

Time for some colour inspiration....  How does the saying go ~ 'Blue & Green should never be seen' ~ well we definitely disagree. The colour green is actually made up of blue & yellow so the fact they are supposed to be sworn enemies makes no sense! A definite myth as far as we are concerned!! We actually blogged about this colour combination about a year ago but we couldn't resist a different take on it as we love both these colours individually as much as we do together!  A perfect, fresh colour combination for Summer, whether it be your home or your outfit!!

A SIMPLE STATEMENT !!

Coincidentally a number of our recent pins over on Pinterest have all had the harlequin design in common, which has led us to today's blog... A newly discovered love of HARLEQUIN. An on trend geometric shape that is actually believed to date back to the late 16th Century, introduced to Italian theatre by Zan Ganassa 'a romantic hero' - the harlequin design was characterised by his chequered costume & has been a much loved design ever since.

We particularly love the design painted directly onto floorboards, keeping the harlequin design as the statement & the rest of the interior simple & muted!
